So despite having a crazy as hell end of the semester I managed to pass all my classes and I'm now in search of summer employment. In the meantime, whilst I wait for my many hundreds of applications to be received and responded to, I have time to play MC. Yea!
So, here's a little screenshot of our castle as it is now.
Pretty, ain't it?
Anyway, we've come quite far with it and I'm really excited. The father-figure's been working on a barracks that's on the far other side of that there castle. And the first daughter's been working on a mystic's mountain, on which she's gonna build the Oracle, a Shaman's hut, and witch's cabin, etc...There's even a sacrificial animal pen.
And I've been workin' on the railroad! All the ...okay yeah, you get it.
See, originally, we'd built our "Three Little Pigs" houses, (entirely unintentionally, but The father's was made of wood and the first daughter's of plants and ground mostly and mine was brick. Incidentally some cute a**holes hacked into the server and tried to burn it all down. Guess who's was the only one left standing. MWHAHAHA! Jerks.) Anyway, those were built at our original spawn point. Well, as we scouted for the perfect place for the castle we got farther and farther from the original spawn point. Well having these things we built laid out so far apart they don't even appear on the same map, I decided a railway was in order if we wanted to make it less than a day or two's journey. So I just recently completed said railroad. It's still got a little tweaking to do, but hooray!
Things I learned this week in MC: In multiplayer if everyone jumps in bed you can pass the night like you can in single player. Everyone has to be in bed though and able to sleep as if it were single player.

Minecraft. Mining. Crafting. Minecrafting. Currently just me and my daughters. Hope to add my brother and a couple friends to the mix. We are doing this just for the fun of it. We hope to capture at least the highlights of our Minecrafting. We'll see how well we can keep it up.

The Book About Why the Second Daughter Hates the NetherWorld
So at this point, we've actually managed to get into the NetherWorld a lot quicker than our original server.
In fact, we actually were able to mine some obsidian pretty quickly and when we built the Stonehenge, we built them out of portals.
Personally, I figured kill two birds with one stone, we'd eventually need portals to the Nether and I wanted to build the Stonehenge, and hey they look similar enough. So that's it, I built a crude version of the Stonehenge (yes, a crude version of a crude structure, imagine,) out of the obsidian.
I was kind of hoping that the different portals would lead to different areas of the Nether World. Unfortunately, not so. Apparently all six portals lead to the same place in the Nether which is conveintiently located right next to a rather sheer drop off into a sea of lava, where these giant white jellyfish fly around shooting fireballs at us.
I've been considering taking it down and starting from scratch again. And hoping that we'll be granted a new starting spot. Maybe something closer to more glowstone, which is really my only desire to enter the Nether. Sure netherrack is useful, but fairly easy to gather without having to go far. The glowstone however, takes quiet some campaigning. Besides, that doesn't really look too much like Stonehenge, now does it?
Anyway, we've found that we get so into this game, we actually start having physical reactions to it. For instance, I prefer to stay above ground, especially since trying to navigate my dad's mines can turn into an Escher maze. I actually will start to feel a little closed in. So he's the one who mostly stays underground. That being said, our wonderful new castle was built atop a mount with a sheer drop on most sides. While the father figure is mucking about underground getting us the resources we need, I'm on top of the mountain building. At one point, I was attempting to add some irrigation to our little farm.
And in order to do that, I had to dig around a little, which, to give you an idea, meant dealing with this:
So at one point, I accidentally dug right through that little cliff there and was faced straight down the cliff of a mountain, nearly falling off. I actually started to sweat a little.
But what does this have to do with the Nether? you say. Well, let me tell you. We were exploring for glowstone when one of the those damned white jellyfish caught sight of me. I was looking out at the lava sea to see if I could locate some glowstone stalagmites in the distance. We were pretty high up on the map because we hit the bedrock. So the monster sees me, tosses a fireball in my direction, but it misses, and I think phew and go to run backwards away from the opening. Turns out the fireball had blown a whole in the floor and I backed right out of it.
And fell.
Down.
Down.
Down.
Into. the. sea. of. lava.
It was the single most terrifying experience I can remember. Not only are you put on edge from how dark the Nether is and all the creepy sounds you hear, but then this happened and my whole body tensed and every nerve in me was itching.
It was terrible.
Oh, and I lost all the glowstone we had just acquired. So, that was my point to say, okay. I'm done with this for now.
But for a game to have that kind of affect on me? I think the last time I got that creeped out was when I played Quake at night.
Eerie. *shudder*
Nether stories anyone?

The Book About How the Second Daughter Found MineCraft
So since I'm the one who pretty much brought this game into the family, I shall give my stories from the beginning.
I was first introduced to Minecraft by a friend at school. We were sharing games one day and he showed it to me. All I could think at the time was "I just got finished telling you my favorite games are Portal and Civ and Fable. Why would you think this 8-bit graphic game, where all you do is collect and build (like some Facebook game,) possibly garner my interest or attention?"
..Uh, because we just built a freaking castle. Oh, and the Stone Henge. And we're planning on building an observatory, The Pyramids, The Library of Alexandria, The Great Lighthouse, a pirate cove, a sky bridge, an underwater hallway and observation room, and the list goes on and on.
So I got a little addicted. So what? Don't judge.
Anyway, talked with my dad about it. He said he'd pretty much had the same thought. But I got him to play it a little bit more. Cut to 5 hours later and we're both still playing.
On the original server, we'd already built a fair amount, but in order to obtain a more stable gaming experience ended up switching servers which forced us to start from scratch. Psh. We had three neat little lake houses in no time, (after the sister joined in). We had said we'd start the blog at the beginning of the new server, but, uh, pretty much got too wrapped up in scouting for the castle to do so.
But, there will be pictures coming soon. Documentation of sorts, and definitely some stories.
Mine on!
